My name is Docus and I am 36 years old. I have been making beads for over 6 years now. When I first started I would just roll the beads for other jewelry makers who were in beading cooperatives. They would then string them together to make necklaces. These beaders would buy the beads from me. Now, I have joined a beading group called SUUBI, and I go through the whole process to make the beads and necklaces to sell in America. The opportunity to sell my jewelry to All Across Africa has increased my income, allowed me to make new friends as well as learn new skills and product designs. I have benefitted a lot from making paper beads because I am able to provide the materials my children need for school and for their health. I am also able to send some money back home to my parents.
