My name is Helen and I am 33 years old. I grew up in Kitgumu with 3 sisters and 6 brothers. My childhood was good until 1991 when the rebels killed my father. My family started to suffer, my mother was the sole supporter for my family. I had to stop my studies in P4 in order to help my mother. I am married with 3 children, all boys, ages 13, 10 and 8. I used to make local beer until 2000 when I started beading for Rwanda Partners. It was difficult for me to sell what I had made at times. Some nights we would go to sleep hungry. But today, I am happy that I have a consistent market where I sell merchandise well. I am now responsible for my family since my husband is without a job. My hope for the future is to build a new house and educate my children.
