My name is Devothe. I am 19 years old and I live with my three sisters in Rilima Sector, Rwanda. After the death of my mother when I was 16 years old, we became orphans. Life was so difficult during this time; we often went without anything to eat. I had to stop my studies and search for a temporary job to help care for my younger sisters. All Across Africa gave me the chance to learn to sew bags. I spent 4 months learning to sew before graduating the training and beginning to produce bags to sell. When I started to earn money for the bags, the lives of my sisters and I began to improve. I am now able to feed my family, pay for life insurance and pay the school fees for my sisters. We were left a piece of land at home, but have never been able to afford to start to produce crops. My dream is to one day invest in in the land and cultivate coffee. I also hope to marry and build my own home. I know that with hard work, I will achieve my dreams.
