My name is Catherine and I am 34 years old. I come from Gulu district of Northern Uganda, a region heavily displaced by the war activities of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). I am married and have 4 children. We moved to southern Uganda to escape the danger, and because my husband was able to get a job in one of the factories here. Since moving to the south, I began making beads. I love bead making because it has been a huge help to my family. I joined a beading group about 5 years ago to try and help my husband pay the bills at home. Since I began beading, I have been able to supplement my husband’s income and we are able to pay the school fees for our children, buy cloths, buy food, pay rent and buy other household needs. I am very hopeful about this new business relationship with All Across Africa because it will really help our community to develop and have more money to support our families.
